Musée de la Lavande

SINCE 1991 in Coustellet

The art of fine lavender, a scented discovery of the most iconic flower of Provence.

The Art of fine lavender

In May 1991, Georges Lincelé, fine lavender expert, inaugurated the first and only lavender museum in the heart of Luberon, in Coustellet, to preserve the Art of Fine lavender. In a prestigious place with its large Provençal stone building and its Mediterranean garden planted with lavandine and olive trees, this Museum is known as a true conservatory of Made in Provence Lavender. The most beautiful lavender essential oil still collections and of lavender linked objects from the XVIth century to today, are an experience full of discoveries, of which the guiding principle is the protection and valorization of this exceptional local know-how: Provence’s lavender.

Producers’ & distillers’ know-how

This botanical icon which has made the fame and pride of Provence since the XIXth century is one of the rarest and most precious flowers in the world. Today, the Lavender museum has become an institution committed to the preservation of lavender. The Museum allows the visitors to discover the privileged status of fine lavender in high-end perfumery, and its major role in aromatherapy. The museography, the guides’ passion and the partners gathered around the Lincelé Family, owner of the Museum and producer and distiller on the lavender Estate Le Château du Bois since 1890, make it a valuable tour appreciated by all lavender experts and lovers.

Ideal for Family visits

Young visitors have a special place with adapted tools to learn while having fun. Quiz, treasure hunt, workshops, their visit is organized to enjoy this beautiful subject intuitively. To this day, the Lavender Museum is still a 100 % family owned business at human scale, to perpetuate privileged relationships with its visitors. Environmental issues and the commitment to preserve the true fine lavender of Provence still are the goals of this Museum.
