A spectacular site
At over 130 meters high, the fortress offers an exceptional view of the Rhône Valley, Mont Ventoux, and the Dentelles de Montmirail.
A journey through time
Occupied since Roman times, this highly strategic military stronghold was contested throughout the Middle Ages by the Archbishopric of Arles, the Counts of Toulouse, and the Pope. It played a major role during the Hundred Years’ War and the Wars of Religion. The fortress immerses visitors in the heart of medieval life thanks to its 12th-century ramparts, barbican, keep, chapel and crypt, its dormer window, and its restored spaces.
Lively and immersive visits
Actors, combat demonstrations, daily life of soldiers, falconry… Here, history is experienced as much as it is told, for young and old alike.
A remarkable natural site
Classified as a historical monument since 1927 and nestled in a protected environment, the fortress combines heritage and nature, ideal for an outdoor cultural outing.
A fun family outing
Calligraphy workshops, archery, herbalism, wool spinning… along with activities and educational trails, make the visit accessible and captivating for children and adults alike.
A must-see in the Vaucluse
Just a stone’s throw from major roads, the fortress is a key cultural destination for visitors to the region and locals alike.
