Contact and information
On the right bank of the Pont du Gard in Remoulins, the Infinity Trail sends ultra-trail runners onto a 6.706 km loop, with a fresh start every hour. Spectators are welcome to come and cheer them on.
A 6.706 km loop to finish in under an hour
This format is the brainchild of Lazarus Lake, who also created the “famous and legendary Barkley” in Tennessee. The principle is simple: runners repeat a 6.706 km loop, and a new start is given every hour. Each lap must therefore be completed before the next one begins. Anyone who comes in early can rest until the following loop sets off, one hour after the previous one.
- Finish the first loop in 45 minutes and you get 15 minutes to recover before the next start.
- A loop completed in 58 minutes leaves just 2 minutes of rest.
The goal is to string together as many loops as possible within the time allowed. The winner is the last runner still able to complete a full loop.
Two crossings of the Pont du Gard per loop, on a UNESCO site
On every lap, participants cross the Pont du Gard twice and also run around the monument. The site is a UNESCO World Heritage site, so runners tread ground steeped in more than 2,000 years of history.
The route mixes wide tracks and single trails, and takes in Roman remains and vineyards. It also includes a few flights of stairs, a tunnel to go through and a stretch alongside the Gardon river. Over these 6.7 km, there is plenty of variety.
A heated rest area welcomes runners between starts, for their comfort and to help them add a few more loops. Whether you stop at 3 loops or push on to 60, the place will leave no one unmoved. The race is organized in partnership with EPCC Pont du Gard. Please note that the event is full.
