Matisse & Frida Kahlo at the Carrières des Lumières

Visitors step into the painter’s world at the Carrières des Lumières in Les Baux-de-Provence, where the immersive show Matisse, la symphonie des couleurs is joined by a short programme on Frida Kahlo.

The new programme takes over from the one devoted to Picasso. From 9 October, the vast quarries of Les Baux-de-Provence bring the creations of Henri Matisse to life in a spectacular immersive show. Following a trail of colour, visitors see the master’s works in a fresh light: the famous Blue Nudes, Fauvism and the luminous shades of “Luxe, calme et volupté” unfold to a spellbinding soundtrack. It is a poetic journey alongside a daring artist whose paintings never cease to amaze.

A shorter programme on Frida Kahlo complements the Matisse show. It takes a sensitive, introspective look at an artist whose work is both powerful and poetic.
