Contact and information
Over the autumn holidays, the Aven d’Orgnac, Grand Site de France, in Orgnac-l’Aven, hosts the Créa’Magnon workshops, where visitors explore prehistory by recreating the methods their ancestors used.
A different workshop each day, and an object to take home
These “Prehistory” activities offer another way into the period. The workshop changes from one day to the next, and every participant steps into the shoes of a Cro-Magnon, then leaves with the object they have made.
Pottery, jewellery and a new flint knapping workshop
Here is how the week is organised:
- pottery workshop on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays, for ages 5 and up;
- jewellery workshop on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, for ages 5 and up;
- flint knapping workshop on Thursdays, a new addition, for ages 8 and up.
Sessions at 3 pm for €5, plus “les secrets du feu” demonstrations
Each session begins at 3 pm, runs for 1 hour 15 minutes and costs €5. Booking is strongly advised. In addition, throughout the holidays the site runs demonstrations called “les secrets du feu”.
