Contact and information
Seventeenth-century style is the focus of the temporary exhibition Madame de Sévigné and fashion at the Château de Grignan, held as part of the Année Sévigné.
The Marquise de Sévigné and her daughter were both passionate about the gowns and hairstyles worn at the king’s court. The exhibition reveals which looks were admired and which set the trend, with costumes made by a master corset maker.
Fans from the late 17th and early 18th centuries, lent by a private collector, round out the display. A table of historic perfumes has also been staged, in association with the Osmothèque in Versailles. Visitors explore the exhibition at their own pace on a self-guided visit.
