Guided tours of Château de Thézan take you into the old village of Saint-Didier to see a Renaissance masterpiece nicknamed “the Diamond of Provence”.

From impregnable fortress to thermal spa, then the 2019 revival

Set between the Luberon and Ventoux, Château de Thézan looks like something out of a Renaissance tale. It began as an impregnable fortress, became the noble residence of the Thézan-Venasque family, and later turned into a prestigious thermal spa where the elite came to take the waters.

Time and neglect then took over. In 2019, an ambitious restoration project, carried out with real passion, saved the château and opened it to the public, who can at last discover its treasures. After more than 30 years of abandonment, visitors are now helping to write a new chapter in its story.

Lavish salons, Second Empire baths and an English-style park

The tour leads through sumptuous, richly furnished salons and Second Empire baths that have survived in astonishing condition. Outdoors, an English-style park is dotted with remarkable trees and fountains spouting water. History and beauty sit together here in perfect harmony, outside time.

Visitors see all of the historic salons, then can wander along the park’s paths on the botanical trail. The château and its park are listed as Monuments Historiques. Tours start at €4 and are free for wheelchair users.
