Marie Moroni’s photography exhibition “Dans la gorge du dragon” is on show at the Pont du Gard, in the Espace Accueil en Rive Gauche, and leads visitors into the Gardon Gorges, far from the usual trails.
The Gardon Gorges: more than twenty caves inhabited since prehistoric times
The Gardon Gorges are a “wild, rugged, often impenetrable” landscape. People have lived here since prehistory, and more than twenty caves show that the site was occupied without a break.
In her photographic narrative, Marie Moroni sets landscapes and caves in conversation, plant life with rock, darkness with light. The series draws on Plato’s allegory of the cave and asks what remains hidden as well as what reveals itself to the eye.
Dans la gorge du dragon evokes a raw world, both a refuge and a mystery, firmly anchored in our natural heritage.
One exhibition in three venues: the Pont du Gard, Uzès and Nîmes
The exhibition is shown at the same time at the Pont du Gard, the Prieuré Saint-Nicolas in Uzès and the Nîmes Tourist Office. It offers a “poetic immersion” in a heritage that is both natural and human, shaped since prehistory.
