Two experiences, from €19, share the last two departures of the day at the Grotte de la Salamandre in Méjannes-le-Clap: the cave can be explored in two almost opposite ways, first in half-light, then under the lights of Immersion.
Half-light: a cave lit only by the visitors’ own lamps
The experience begins in darkness with the torch visit. The lamps carried by visitors are the only source of light, and the cave looks entirely different. Eyes adjust and search, then settle on a relief, a depth, a shape.
The rock emerges bit by bit, with no staging whatsoever. The place feels rawer and more intimate.
Immersion: light, colour and music in the cave
Next comes Immersion. Light, colour and music fill the space, the volumes take on new shapes and the walls seem to change scale. The scenography offers a “resolutely contemporary” reading of the cave.
Two experiences that echo each other, from 14 September to 1 November
In the dark, each person builds their own way of seeing. Light, by contrast, guides and transforms what we perceive. The two experiences are designed to answer one another, and for this occasion only they are combined under the Immersion + Visite Guidée rate.
From 14 September to 1 November, they take the last two departures of each day. In September, the torch visit is at 4 pm and Immersion follows at 5 pm.
