Contact and information
As part of the Fête de la Science, the Aven d’Orgnac, a Grand Site de France, hosts a prehistoric flatbread workshop under the theme “Saveurs savantes”.
What did people eat at the end of Prehistory? To find out, visitors look into Neolithic cuisine through the museum’s collections, then try it out for themselves.
Everyone then makes their own afternoon snack. Flour is ground on a stone quern, the dough is shaped by hand, and the flatbreads are cooked on a prehistoric hot stone. Participants can also light their own fire using a technique that dates back thousands of years. Fittingly, the snack ends with a tasting of the flatbreads they have just made.
